Mama,
Would you please just hold me?

I’m here again.
Like a toddler running back,
Hungry to suckle from her mother’s breasts.
Sorry, mama,
I should have grown up,
Past all these.

But mama,
I still cry at night.
They keep coming back for me, mama
Clawing and pinching at my innards,
Twisting them the way we do the innards of our Eid rams.

Mama,
I still lay awake at night,
Hurting with the need to be held,
But you are thousands of miles away.
Perhaps, needing someone to hold you too?

But mama,
Everyone else seems happy,
Moving on fine with their lives.
Or are they just good with rocking the happy mask?

Mama,
It can’t be just rocking happy masks.
They have a companion,
And a baby suckling at their breasts.
While monsters sit on my thighs suckling at mine.

But mama,
There should be a way out this,
This inferno hurts and my brain,
It’s a toast; it’s on fire.

Mama,
Would you please just hold me?
For now, let’s forget the way out of this,
These slimy thoughts are shy of you.
So, would you please just hold me?

O.A
